North-West is most north western of South African provinces. This province share multiple river systems and dams with the Freestate, Gauteng and Limpopo. Some of the mayor rivers include the Vaal and Mooi that have healthy populations and Smallmouth Yellowfish (Labeobarbus aeneus) and also Largemouth Yellowfish (Labeobarbus kimberleyensis), which are mostly found in the Vaal river. The Magalies, Crocodile, Marico, Molopo and Pienaars Rivers are all home to the Smallscale Yellowfish (Labeobarbus polylepis) and Largescale Yellowfish (Labeobarbus marequensis). The province also boasts many Dams that offer quality fishing. These include Bloemhof, Boskop and Vaalkop Dams. Most of the province consists of Bushveld and savannah grasslands with many game reserves and game farms. If your aim is to combine Bushveld, game drives and fishing this is a great destination to explore.
